Certificates for schools: 1^st level the title of the Local Center for Environmental Activity (LCEA) and 2^nd level of international Green Flag

The title of Local Centres for Environmental Action (LCEA) get schools which are school-based centres which empower communities, and especially youth, to create and realise practical projects with a focus on sustainable development. The tasks that make the work of the LCEA distinctive are the following:

1. Implementing model environmental investments;
2. Launching projects and activities which encourage a greater sense of community (such as creating local associations or action groups);
3. Introducing original school curricula which reflect local initiatives and associated sustainable development concepts.

 
"Green Flag" certificate, awarded to schools throughout the world as part of the Eco-Schools programme (www.eco-schools.com). The Eco-Schools programme has been running since 1994, has 15,000 member schools from 43 countries in Europe, Africa, South America, Asia and Oceania. Until now, 4,500 schools have obtained the "Green Flag" certificate. The national Eco-Schools coordinator in Poland is the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation, the only organisation entitled to award Green Flag certificates in Poland.

Certificates are conferred on schools for the duration of the school year and are designed to encourage them to keep working to improve and further develop their environmental initiatives, as well as to renew their certificate.
